Summary
In this second part of Jan’s story, she continues to share about the grooming and sexual abuse she and her parents experienced at the hands of a neighbor. All that she’s done to heal since the abuse ended - which includes a book, a Netflix documentary entitled Abducted in Plain Sight, Peacock's scripted series called A Friend of the Family, her non-profit, podcast, and more - are beautiful examples of resiliency and strength. | 1:22.1 | we're getting divorced, and I'm taking these girls. It only took about 10 days. |
| 1:30.5 | My mom went down to her mother's house in Utah and then came home back to Pocatello. |
| 1:33.2 | And basically my mom and dad just fell into each other's arms. |
| 1:36.7 | My mother was sobbing and my dad was crying. |
| 1:39.0 | And us girls, when we were told they might get a divorce, |
| 1:42.1 | we were bawling. |
| 1:43.6 | Nobody in our world had gotten |
| 1:45.9 | divorced. None of our friends had divorced parents. And so when they came back together, it was just |
| 1:51.8 | this huge relief. She comes back to my dad. And now they're both on the same team. They were |
| 1:57.8 | married until the day my dad passed away. |
| 2:04.1 | At that point, I'm turning 14. |
| 2:10.8 | So this has gone from age 12, where I was kidnapped in the fall, to turning 14 in the middle of the summer. |
