I've been broadcasting on this podcast for the last two weeks in the city of Kitchener, Ontario,

which is about an hour from Toronto. I've been here just for a little while helping with some

family matters. And there comes a time in every youngish Torontoian's life when they start thinking, well, what does my future look like?

Am I going to live in Toronto an increasingly expensive city, a city where it's very hard to afford to buy any property?

You know, like, what if I start looking at some of the suburbs or some of the neighboring cities?

And my family has been in

Kitchener for about 15 years ever since I graduated high school and I can tell you that this

city has been ruined for me. This is, you know, and I'm allowed to say this because I basically

am a Kitchener right at this point. You have Kitchener privilege.

Exactly.

Kitchener's in my blood.

And so don't disrespect to Kitchener, Waterloo listeners.

I know we have at least a few.

I'm just saying that this is a city that has become associated in my mind with traumatic periods and way station periods. It's a city that I have come

to associate with being unemployed with my childhood home being sold and all of a sudden I'm in a

new city. It's a city that I've come to associate with like the deaths of relatives. This is a

problem. You know, it's funny. You're bringing this up for other reasons, but we are recording this on
