My mother is in a domestic violence relationship now.

So my first memory is like the flat was very dirty,

I mean the dirty home.

And my memory is, my first memory is I'm standing in the hallway and I'm looking at

the living room and I see a bowl of cereal being thrown across the floor milk is everywhere the

cereal is everywhere and they're shouting at each other.

And closely followed by the bowl, I see my mum being thrown across the room hitting the floor,

and I'm about fine at that point and I physically like I froze I froze completely.

I can feel that if I became a statue in that moment, closed something down to myself in that moment. So this was one experience of many, many domestic

violence situations that I would be witnessing and feeling very hopeless.

I wanted to protect my mom,

I wanted to stop her being hurt, but I couldn't.

So I overcompensated in other ways at that age.

So I would make my mum endless cups of tea and I would clean

wool time and this has followed me into my adult life but when I am dressed I will clean a lot and I won't realize I'm doing it. I have to catch myself and check in emotionally.

What's going on? You cleaned every room. Yeah, yeah, there was extreme domestic violence and at the very beginning of living in that flat.

Very basic, very basic needs like having a bed to sleep on and having toys. I don't remember any of that. I don't remember there being
