We're spending another week in Matthew chapter 6, studying what Jesus has to say about stuff.

Our world is full of stuff. It's part of life. Most of us like our stuff and that's okay.

The Bible never tells us we can't enjoy possessions, but it does offer some guidance about how those

possessions fit into our lives. How can we own stuff without stuff owning us?

Well, the first thing to remember about all that stuff, it's not yours.

As we turn the page, we find ourselves in a conversation, some specific teaching that Jesus has

about possessions. Matthew chapter 6, verses 19 through 24. Jesus said, don't store up

treasures here on earth where moths eat them and rust destroys them. Where thieves break in and

steal, store your treasures in heaven where moths and rust cannot destroy and thieves do not break

in and steal. Wherever your treasure is there, the desires of your heart will also be.

Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body and when your eye is healthy,

your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with

darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep is that darkness is?

No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other. You'll be devoted to one

and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. Gracious Lord,

these kind people have entrusted me with a few minutes of their day. May I be a good steward of

this privilege. Please forgive the speaker because you know that his sins are so many.

And just help us to see Jesus, just Jesus, through Christ we pray. Amen. Can we talk about stuff,
