Why'd you pick Weinboo is the name?

I picked Weinboo because we needed to come up with a name for the corporation and in those days I had two

partners and everybody wanted to have their name on the corporate identity.

So it was something like an accounting firm or a law firm or some kind of a professional corporation and nobody really liked that feeling

so eventually we started working on the concept and the concept was a wine rainbow

meaning a big selection a lot lot of different colors for flavors, and therefore a rainbow.

So wine, rainbow was a little bit too long and so we decided on, wineboe.

So it was Peter, Matt, and Bob Haas originally?

Those were my two original partners, yes.

And how did you meet them?

I mean, how did that come all about?

Well, as I was deciding to get into the wine business, I was still working at Citibank and got a hold of a beverage

media and started calling, called calling, you know, various distributors in New York to kind of size up what their interest

level would be in a new line of Italian wines.

And eventually I made contact with a small distributor who was getting out of the business,

but he had just been visited by Peter Matt, who wanted to be a broker.

Peter was working at Morerell in those days and was married to an Italian,
