πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Peter chapter 3 and Peter told us some very basic things about our identity that

0:21.2

are actually very transformative when we understand what they mean and

1:08.3

what has been done for us through Jesus resurrection. It says we are born again into an inheritance that is

1:16.6

imperishable, undefiled and unfading, kept in heaven for us. So we can pause there for a moment and think about that.

1:26.1

We all know what an inheritance is.

1:28.8

I received an inheritance just a little while back from a dear cousin who passed away and she was an only child.

1:35.3

Her parents had both passed away and what money she had she gave in an inheritance to me and my four siblings.

1:44.8

You see an inheritance is something you get from someone else who has earned it or who has

1:51.1

amassed it, who has saved it.

1:54.0

And in this case, the inheritance comes from God the Father,

1:58.0

and he gives it to us through Jesus Christ.

2:01.0

So when Jesus rose from the dead, you see it's kind of different from our

2:06.7

inheritance because of Jesus' new life after death, we are given an inheritance. So it's not that we're receiving it because he's dead now

2:15.5

we're receiving it because he's alive now and that's why
