It's called the oldest profession for a reason.

Samaritan list of professions, thought to have been created way back in 2400 BCE,

over 44 centuries ago.

prostitution has existed and damn near every society and culture in the history of the world,

from ancient Greece and ancient Rome, to ancient China, to colonial America, to the modern day.

While the one digging in the history of prostitution in ancient America,

know that the Aztecs did have sex workers, as did the Incas, the Mayans, also thought to have had prostitutes.

Of course they did.

Wherever and whenever there has been sex, there have been those willing to sell it,

and those willing to pay for it.

Currently there are about 42 million people who work as prostitutes in the world.

Estimates placed the annual revenue generated by prostitution worldwide to be around $186 billion US dollars.

For perspective, that's over three times the revenue generated by all of console gaming.

Around $50 billion in annual revenue for PlayStation, Xbox, and all the other console gaming platforms combined.

Is all that money being made?

Sell and sex?

A good or a bad thing?

Some view prostitution as a form of exploitation and often violence.

And in many cases, that's exactly what it is.
