Hey there, welcome to Food Psych. I'm your host christieherison and today I'm going to be answering a question

I've gotten from many people over the years about emotional eating or should I say so-called emotional eating actually.

This is a topic that comes up a lot because so many people see themselves as emotional eaters

and I know I very much did too back in my disordered eating days a decade or two decades ago.

But as we'll discuss quote-unquote emotional eating actually isn't what it seems

and identifying as an emotional eater can actually be a clue that something else might be going on.

So before I get into all that though just a couple of quick announcements.
