0:21.6	three questions that I get asked quite often. The first one, I was asked by a friend who texted
0:27.7	me and said, hey, do you have a particular podcast that I could share with somebody that will
0:33.8	help us to recognize progressive Christianity. This particular friend was suspicious
0:39.4	that maybe somebody she knew might be falling into some of the ideas of progressive Christianity,
0:44.4	but just didn't quite know how to pinpoint exactly how to recognize it. And as I was looking
0:49.8	through my archives, I thought, well, we've talked a lot about progressive Christianity. We've refuted
0:54.4	specific points here and there, but I'm not sure I actually have answered the question.
0:59.2	Like, here is exactly how to recognize it and here is where to look for it.
1:03.9	So I thought I'd do that today for our first question. And so I think it would be helpful
1:08.2	to think about progressive Christianity first by defining it,
1:11.4	because we can't obviously learn to recognize it until we know what it is. Definitions are so
1:17.7	important because as you probably notice by looking out into the world, language is getting
1:24.1	hijacked. Words are being redefined. and then we end up talking past one another.
1:29.3	So as far as progressive Christianity goes, I've defined it different ways to try to help people
1:35.1	understand it. It's very difficult to define because it's very fluid. There are a broad
1:41.3	spectrum of beliefs that fall under the umbrella of progressive Christianity.
1:46.3	I remember when I first started really studying the primary sources, reading the books
1:51.0	written by progressive Christians, following their podcast and reading their blog posts,
1:55.7	it was very hard to pin down, for example, what is the progressive view of the atonement? Or what is the
2:03.0	progressive view of eschatology, which is the doctrine of last things? Or what is the progressive
