Episode 273. 3. So I was talking to a friend of mine who I used to be in a band worth many many years ago and he's a lovely guy but he'd gone right down the Q and on rabbit hole.

He was expressing his views in good faith with me and I had this moment where I in a previous life I might have been scornful or tried to smack him down about what he believed and I've realized the futility of that and I also thought about linking him to some of the biases that he was clearly suffering in his the way that he was thinking about this and that just felt really combative and unhelpful.

Because I've been thinking about this in this wheelhouse that you and I have both been in for quite a while now and in terms of the psychology and understanding what actually helps to change people's minds I knew that my efforts

to be in any way antagonistic were going to be counterproductive and so I thought about

this for a few days and I was thinking you know what would be really good is if I could provide

a way for people to conduct their own critical thinking investigation so rather than me as a

holier than now rational skeptic waggling my finger at someone telling them where it's at,

instead providing a way where someone in good faith without threat could go into something and say, okay, well, let's honestly examine this.
