I thought we'd start with a tiny bit of Japanese today.

I'd of course contribute to the extraordinary story of Jack Huerson,

the Scottish sailor who witnessed the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.

Yesterday, included the story of Jack who was taken prisoner in the far east

and survived all kinds of hell.

He was even used by the Japanese to help with the cleanup of Hiroshima.

I absolutely love it.

I love reading them. I love hearing them back.

We hear a lot about the great and the good and plenty about the evil men of the Second World War.

It's fascinating to hear these lesser known stories from the lives of normal people.

The thing about it is it's such a lovely reminder that what certainly drew me to the subject in the first place

was this idea of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
