So there was complete chaos in the House of Commons earlier this week around a vote on a ceasefire in Gaza.

Lindsay Hoyle has been accused of essentially breaking with parliamentary procedure by calling a labor amendment rather than a government

amendment.

Now we can get into that a little bit later, but the reason he gave I think is quite striking.

This is him speaking in the House of Commons the day after making an apology.

I never ever want to go through a situation where I pick up a phone to find a friend of whatever side has been murdered by terrorist.

I also don't want another attack on this house. I was in the chair on that day. I have seen, I have witnessed. I want to show the details, but the details... details of the things that have been brought to me are absolutely frightening on all

members of this house On all sides. So Tom, I mean he's talking about an implied threat of violence.

He doesn't use the I word, but we assume he's talking about Islamists. I mean

would assume he's talking about Islamists. I mean what do you think this means for

democracy? No it's really striking that because really when this whole

circus first began it was very much around the questions of

parliamentary procedure and whether or not the

Labour Party had lent on Lindsay Hoyle who is the speaker but is a Labour MP as well to essentially

get them out of this hole that they found themselves in in relation to the

SMP amendment on ceasefire in Gaza and you know ripping up parliamentary
