Hey everyone, welcome to another episode of Monday Meditations.

And to start the week off right, the word that we're going to be meditating on today is repentance.

Repentance is more than just a sincere regret or remorse.

It's more than just discontinuing a sin.

In the Old Testament, a Hebrew word often used is

shuf. It can mean to turn, turn back, or return. And the implication is twofold. Repentance is

about turning away from evil and turning towards God. In mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis

writes that fallen man is not simply an imperfect creature who needs improvement.

He is a rebel who must lay down his arms and laying down your arms, surrendering, saying you are sorry,

realizing that you have been on the wrong track and getting ready to start life over again from the ground floor.

That is the only way out of a whole. This process of surrender,

this movement full speed astern is what Christians call repentance. The first step to take if you

want to become a Christian is to repent and accept Jesus Christ. If you're already a believer,

then repentance is an ongoing practice in your walk with the Lord.

Yes, we are children of God, but we are also flawed sinners who will always desperately need forgiveness.

And there are endless chances for us to sin each day, whether we recognize it or not.

Thoughts, lingering or wandering eyes, reactions in the heat of the moment, unethical shortcuts, there are temptations

and sinful opportunities literally everywhere. But thankfully, though, if Jesus Christ is your

Lord and your Savior, then you've already been declared righteous through his sacrifice on the

cross. Your sin won't change your designation as a child of God.

But just because you're declared righteous doesn't mean that you're immune from sinning or that

you're a saint.
