Welcome back to adult child, where we take a deep dive into the impact of growing up in a dysfunctional family.

To any new listeners, I'd like to introduce myself

so you know what the hell you're stepping into.

I'm Andrea, I'm a recovering alcoholic addict co-dependent an adult child of a

dysfunctional family and once peed my pants at a Roos Chris steakhouse stone cold sober so y'all have been warned. So today we are

diving deep into breaking the stigma of addiction and I am talking to William Coop Moyers. He is the VP of

public affairs and external relations at Hazleton Betty Ford which is the

nation's largest nonprofit alcohol and drug rehab provider.

So William is the perfect example of how the disease of addiction does not discriminate. William is the son of Bill Moyers who is a

journalist, a political commentator, he served as the White House Press Secretary

and the Johnson administration and in 1994 Bill found himself pulling his son out of a

crack house in Atlanta his son being today's guest William now William and his

parents have played an extremely important role in breaking the stigma of addiction

and William also played an important role in getting insurance companies to recognize

addiction as a disease.
