Summary

Have you ever gotten a MBSS report and felt like you needed to do another study just to get the information you need to actually know how to treat the patient? Many SLPs have faced this dilemma that is not only wildly frustrating, but delays care, increases costs, and exposes patients to more radiation... BUT my guest this week created a solution and is sharing the details on how you can do the exact same thing for your community!

In this episode of SYP, I have a conversation with Nikki Howell, CCC-SLP, about her experience in starting an MBSS Initiative that has transformed into a full-blown SLP Council for the SLPs in her area to collaborate! The project started as a way to improve the consistency of MBSS in the facilities in her area but has grown to be something MUCH greater that will have a long-lasting effect for patients and clinicians alike. Nikki is passionate about bettering our field, her education, and working together to improve patient care!

In this episode, you'll hear about:
*The beginning of the MBSS Initiative
*How it has now transformed into an SLP Council
*Goals of the council
*How did Nikki find herself in a position to start the initiative?
*Resilience tips for SLPs
