0:05.2	Crime. I'm your host Heather Ashley and today's case is out of Moline, Illinois.
0:10.1	Small talk sucks, so let's dive in. Trudy Appleby was born in Utah, but she grew up with her parents Dennis and Brenda and her
0:34.7	half brother Sean in the Quad Cities area of Illinois and Iowa. When Trudy was
0:40.0	about nine years old, Dennis and Brenda split and Dennis got custody of Trudy.
0:45.3	Dennis and Trudy went on to live in a secluded home near 41st Street and 23rd Avenue in
0:51.1	Moline, Illinois.
0:52.7	According to NBC News, it was almost impossible to see the house from the street
0:57.9	because the driveway went around two other houses
1:00.9	and crossed a small ravine before ever reaching the house.
1:04.4	When it comes to Dennis, he was a dedicated single father.
1:08.4	He and Trudy were extremely close and overall they had a really great relationship.
1:13.8	Trudy was also close to her mom and that side of the family so even though her
1:18.6	parents had split it was clear that there was no shortage of people who loved and cared for her.
1:24.6	She had her family, her friends, and she also loved gymnastics and the outdoors.
1:29.6	Whether it was swimming or camping, Trudy loved it all. She was full of energy and so much fun to be around
1:36.6	and she was also really, really smart. At one point, she was actually given the opportunity to skip a grade, but her parents decided it'd probably be better for her to stay with her friends.
1:50.0	Trudy was a very outgoing child. She didn't have a shy bone in her body and her best friend and neighbor Amber later told TV 6 about how she met Trudy.
2:00.0	Trudy had come over one day and straight up asked Amber's mom Kelly if she had any kids that she could play with.
2:06.4	Kelly laughed at Trudy's forwardness and said yes, and before she knew it, Trudy and Amber were inseparable, usually spending their days at Amber's house.
2:15.2	In the summer of 1996, Trudy spent a lot of time over at Ambers doing what really every 11 year old girl does.
2:25.7	They played, they snacked, and they talked about life.
