Our guest today is James Patrick Kelly.

He's published over a hundred short stories, which have received numerous awards, including

the Hugo, Nebula, and Locust Award.

Together with John Kessel, he's edited anthologies such as Feeling Very Strange, the Slipstream

anthology, ReWired, the Post Cyberpunk Anthology, and Digital Rapt Rapture the Singularity Anthology.

He also writes a column about the internet for Asimov's magazine and is on the faculty of the Stone Coast Creative

Writing MFA program at the University of Southern Maine.

And we'll be speaking with him today about his new novel Mother Go,

and his new short story collection, The Promise of Space.

I'm so happy to be here.

Okay, and so your new novels is called Mother Go.

So how did this book come about?

It's a long story. I guess the way to start is to say it's

been a long time since I published a novel. I published several novels back

before the turn of the century.

Oh my God, that is ancient history.

And I thought they were good.

They got some attention.
