One of the most revealing aspects of the past three months has been that overt hypocrisy of the people who are loudest about racism suddenly being the most silent about anti-Semitism and it just it speaks of course

anti-Semitism but also the real narcissism of this whole thing where people are hyper sensitive

but then they're unable to have the imagination or the conscience to just look outside the shores of their own country and to look at how other people are living and dying and to take a stand on that.

much having me back yeah I should say welcome back to the show.

The last time we had you on this podcast was four months ago and we were talking about your newly

published book, Israelophobia, the newest version of the oldest

hatred and what to do about it.

And I was looking earlier today and we published that podcast on Spite on the 7th of September.

And then of course a month later, it's the 7th of September. And then of course a month later it's the 7th of October. We see

Hamas's pogrom in Israel and then just an extraordinary fallout from that event

both in the Middle East itself but across the Western world in terms of

protest all sorts of crazy commentary particularly about Israel even acts of violence

acts of racism just an extraordinary worldwide fallout from the events of

7th of October.

And it feels to me very much, certainly when we look at the commentary and the activism in the

West, it feels very clear to me that

the thesis of your book israelophobia has been very well vindicated in terms of

the hatred for Israel representing a new species of the oldest hatred of anti-Semitism.

So I guess I want to start with a broad question, which is I imagine you've been shocked by the events of the past few months, including in the West, but not necessarily surprised.
