Hello, cinephiles fans. This is John Roca and this is Steve Morris. And this is an unusual

0:06.3

preview that we're doing this week because we're very excited to be doing a cinephiles live

0:11.1

episode this weekend on Sunday at 4 p.m. p. t to talk about Rocky IV and the director's cut as

0:19.6

well as the original cut and give it some love here. Steve, are you excited about this? I mean,

0:25.8

as a director, is there so much to talk about here? How much are you looking forward to having

0:30.0

this live episode with the cinephiles fans to talk about Rocky IV and the director's cut version?

0:34.4

What's so funny is so you've seen the the new one, right? I did. Yes. I had it not night. It was

0:40.4

oh really? So I'm probably going to watch it tonight or tomorrow night and I am I have a lot

0:46.4

of trepidation. I have a lot of excitement. Rocky IV has never the things I love about Rocky IV I

0:54.3

totally love. Yes. It's also like kind of a big montage music video thing. It doesn't have

1:00.2

it's so funny because Rocky is my favorite because that has the heart. But Rocky IV is a whole

1:05.6

lot of a lot and I have no literally no idea what Stallone did. Well, and this is what's going to

1:11.9

be curious for us to talk about on the show because I think you're going to enjoy what Stallone did.

1:17.6

I did not 100%. So a lot of people said it's the director's cut. Yes, usually it means a longer

1:23.5

movie, but not necessarily the case in this. He took out a lot of the montages. And so I wonder if

1:29.5

the things that you that bothered you about the film back in the 80s or since you've seen it

1:34.4

are now gone. And so you can maybe even like the film now in this version. So it's going to be

1:39.9

fun to discuss it with you and discuss it with our cinephile fans as well. Well, it's so interesting

1:45.8

because first of all, when it came out, make no mistake. I loved it. My chart was fantastic.

1:52.8

It was only, you know, and particularly when I went through my snooty, snooty film school stage

1:57.6

that I started rejected. But trimming the montages seems crazy to me. The training montage

2:03.8

where you're going back and forth with him and Drago, that's one of the greatest montages ever made.
