It is the first and only episode of the podcast. Welcome to episode one.

It was Thanksgiving night in 2007 in the small town of Three Pumpkins, California. It was a calm, quaint place,

a small town all too distant from the pills and the ethnic food of the big city. The Calhoun

family was sitting down for dinner, dressed to the nines, smiling and taking photos and posting

the happy occasion all over social media. Great

Grandma Maggie Calhoun was in town, and despite her age, she still made sure to cook her famous

sweet potato pie. It seemed like the ideal family, but little did anyone know that just bubbling

beneath the surface, a tragedy was brewing, a tragedy that would

capture the attention of a horrified nation. At the center of it, one man with a hazy, unclear story,

who would end up being the only one in the family alive to tell the tale of what happened.

The question is, should anyone really believe him?

In the 15 years following the story, there have been whirlwind trials, retrials, jail time,

earth-shattering secrets, counter lawsuits, and even a few prime time reality shows. Despite all the

pomp and circumstance, few questions still remain. Did Jared Calhoun eat his family? Was Ambien

responsible? Can you eat a person in self-defense? Where are the missing skits?
