Welcome to a tech policy podcast. I'm Ashken Kuzarian. On today's show, we're going to talk about a very controversial and important topic in tech policy, the deepfakes. What do they mean, how they affect our democratic process? That's what we're going to focus on today.

And we have Taylor Barkley from Stand Together.

He's program officer for technology and innovation there.

And before we dive into the topic, what do stand together?

So stand together is a philanthropic community aimed to hope help social entrepreneurs

and folks in the community, in various communities throughout

the U.S., better themselves and better other people's lives.

We focus on education, business, local communities, and government policy.

Well, I'm glad that you guys are definitely focusing on technology because it's a very

important area and close

to our hearts here at Tech Freedom, obviously. So, okay, let's dive right in. Deepfakes have been in the

news almost every other week. One of the biggest, I think, blowups recently was Van Nancy Pelosi

deepfake video that was altered. Although, I don't even know if we can call it Pelosi deep fake video that was altered.
