Summary

In today’s episode, Emily is talking about demanding excellence from yourself. Are you setting the tone correctly in order to achieve your goals? Are you doing everything you possibly can to hit the target every single day? Working hard to reach your goals is not easy. If it was everyone would be winning. It requires you to demand excellence from yourself on a daily basis. Nobody else is going to demand excellence from you but you. A lot of people set new goals and at about the 3 week mark start to slip up and give themselves breaks. This is the worst thing you can do. Skipping your cardio or allowing an extra cheat meal will only keep you from becoming that next best version of you. One break turns into two, which then turns into a pattern and before you know it you are starting all over again. Instead, you’ve got to demand excellence from yourself. That’s today’s message.

Hello, everyone and welcome to the Evolved Emily Show. I'm your host, Emily Hayden, and you are listening to another Monday message. Every single Monday,

0:22.1

I bring a message of the day to you guys. So here's today's message. People often start to go after

0:28.3

a goal and they get really excited. They work really hard for about three weeks. And then for some

0:33.2

reason, at the three week mark, they always start to fall off a little bit, fall off track,

0:37.7

and then by week five and six, they feel like they're starting all over again. Why does this

0:42.3

happen? And what is the moment where people start to go from this upward trajectory of going

0:47.7

towards their goals to this downward trajectory, this you turn, so to speak, where they feel like

0:53.5

they're back where they started.

0:55.3

And here's the thing. Most people lack the awareness of where this happens in their life,

1:00.3

in their patterns, in their habits. And because they lack the awareness of where it's happening,

1:04.6

they can't ever identify it. They can't ever make changes to it. And they keep going through

1:09.1

these cycles in life. Well, I'm here to help you

1:11.9

break the cycle today. The moment that it's happening is when you have been on your diet,

1:17.6

you've been on your training, you've been on your cardio for weeks every single day. You're

1:22.6

executing with excellence. And then randomly on a Thursday, you decide to justify why you're going to skip a

1:30.0

cardio session. You decide to justify why you're going to have a little extra food than what was

1:35.3

normally allotted for that meal. You start to explain and give reasons why it's okay that you

1:41.2

just take an extra rest day because you've been working really hard, right? It's where these justifications come in. It's where it's okay that you just take an extra rest day because you've been working really hard, right?

1:45.4

It's where these justifications come in. It's where these excuses come in and they don't feel

1:50.8

like excuses. In the moment, they feel like completely justified, right? Like everyone would give

1:56.4

you a free pass because you have so much on your plate and you've been doing so good, you haven't

2:01.0

missed a single thing so far. That is the moment where you go from this upward trajectory to this
