Summary
Do you get stuck in the cycle of negative “what-ifs” that hold you back from taking action? Many of us play the “what if” game, imagining worst-case scenarios that paralyze us from moving forward. Whether it’s fear of failure, shame, or anxiety, these negative thoughts can keep us from trying new things, especially when it comes to challenging old habits like pornography use.
In this episode, Coach Kat Jenkins shares a powerful coaching experience about how shifting from “below ground zero” thinking, where we spiral into fear and self-doubt, to “above ground zero” thinking, where we focus on positive possibilities, can break the cycle of inaction and create real change. She explains how giving “equal airtime” to empowering “what-ifs” opens up a new world of possibilities and helps you overcome fears and anxieties before they stop you from reaching your goals.

| 0:39.0 | wanted to share a recent coaching experience with one of my clients. He did give me permission |
| 0:44.0 | to share this. And I think it's going to be beneficial to so many of you because we all kind of |
| 0:48.8 | talk in this what if kind of place. And so today we're going to be talking about playing |
| 0:53.4 | kind of a new what if game. |
| 0:56.1 | And so he had a trip plan. So in our session, he was talking about this trip that he planned. He'd been talking about it for months. He knew he had wanted to go. But as the time got closer, he started to think about all these what ifs. What if I go to the beach and see something? What if I have thoughts about what I see? What if I judge myself? What if I can't look away? What if I go to the beach and see something? What if I have thoughts about what I see? What if I judge |
| 1:11.6 | myself? What if I can't look away? What if I get stuck in these images and can't stop thinking about |
| 1:17.9 | them? So all these what ifs turned him into shaming himself before anything it actually happened. |
| 1:24.7 | And he decided not to go. He didn't book his tickets. He didn't plan the |
| 1:28.9 | trip. Have you done this to yourself as well? Have you done this sort of what if thing, played this |
| 1:34.1 | what if game with yourself, allowing like all of the what ifs of life to keep you from trying or doing |
| 1:40.0 | the things that you want to do? All allowing things that have never actually happened to determine |
| 1:45.0 | how you're going to show up in life. I had a coach once who would call this what ifing. |
| 1:50.3 | He'd call it below ground zero. I mean, we can call it whatever we want. I sometimes say there's |
| 1:55.4 | like this sort of neutral line. And so we're kind of below this neutral line when we play under |
| 2:00.6 | there. We're what ifhing |
