Welcome to another episode of the Fit Healthy and Most of All Happy Podcast. I'm your coach and host Josh here with. His co-host and co-coach, KG, and I'm in the house. We're coming at you with a real talk episode. You know we love these. More and more, you know, too many people have been saying, listen, I need a diet, I need to get on a diet. And we just want to go out there and make the, you know, kind of the bold statement, that diet suck. So if you haven't listened to this episode long, perhaps you haven't heard me say it before, perhaps you have or haven't. Dieting is not the problem. You know, I'm pretty sure anyone listening this episode, pretty much anyone you ever asked, if you say, have you ever dieted, have you lost weight from dieting? I think nine out of ten people are going to say, I've done it, and yes, I've lost some degree of weight. Where that question becomes a bit problematic is most people will say they've gained it back or they've gained back the weight or more. Tons and tons of research has been done on this. And, you know, it's not so much that

0:54.8

there's a weight loss epidemic. It's that there's a weight regain problem. It's easy to do something short term to lose weight, you know, kind of for a little bit, to jump on the latest fat diet, keto, carnivore, whatever it may be, lose a bit of weight and then have it all come back. And in this episode we want to talk about our position in terms of nutrition, how to do it in a sustainable way,

1:14.0

and, you know, bit of weight and then have it all come back. And in this episode, we want to talk about our position

1:11.2

in terms of nutrition, how to do it in a sustainable way. And, you know, really reverting from

1:16.5

the framework of I have to do the short-term solution for a long-term problem, but rather think of a

1:21.5

long-term solution for a long-term problem. So first and foremost, you know, we just want to talk

1:26.5

a little bit about why dieting isn't the solution and and foremost, you know, we just want to talk a little bit about why dieting

1:29.0

isn't the solution and sustainability and, you know, looking at a flexible dieting approach is so much more beneficial. I'll let my boy KG take the mic. Yeah, I'm just like a huge fan. If I'm going to do something, I want to be able to do it, you know, for, you know, quite a while, right? It doesn't not to be for the rest of my life, but when it comes to eating plan, when it comes to

1:45.5

workout plan, when it comes to all that good stuff. And you know, for, you know, quite a while, right? It doesn't have to be for the rest of my life, but when it comes to eating plan, when it comes to workout plan, when it comes to all that good

1:47.7

stuff. And, you know, most of the time when we do talk to someone, you know, they've been dieting and they just, you know, even just using that language, it just kind of reversed to like, you know like barely any calories like you know having these uh you know these juice cleanses

2:00.8

and just you know doing these f cleanses and just, you know,

2:01.7

doing these fad diets. That's a lot of the times what we kind of look at. And I'm just a huge

2:06.2

fan once again, focusing more on sustainability, right? Most times so many negatives take place,

2:13.4

right? And when you hear of a diet, you think of broccoli, chicken, and rice. You think of starving yourself. You think of eating 700 calories a day. And you think of all this just crazy nonsense. But one of my biggest solutions and one of my most important things is kind of, you know, I know food isn't just necessarily fuel, but also looking at what the benefits are and like how to fuel yourself, not just for losing weight, but overall everything in life, performance, performance in the gym, you know, just recovery. Like there's so much good stuff when it comes to food that when it comes down to it, we just need to like stop looking at it. It's like, I need to diet. I need to diet. And I just don't think a lot of people need to die. They just need to make better decisions. They just need to

2:54.2

keep track of stuff. They just need to make, you know, just small habit changes that you don't need to diet. And it's just messing a lot of people up. And oftentimes when we hear people apply and ask questions they've kind of just done this up and down up and down up and down thing for the last

3:07.7

like it's like a yo-yo right so just making like a bit of a mindset shift i think questions, they've kind of just done this up and down, up and down, up and down thing for the last,

3:25.1

like it's like a yo-yo, right? So just making like a bit of a mindset shift, I think, is one of the biggest things that you can do just in your fitness journey. Yeah, you nail that. You know, it's about reverting from this framework of, you know, like I said, that that short solution or you know doing it for a time getting off of it and you know instead this is why first and foremost you know outside of dining the one of the best things you can do is understand what you're eating knowledge is power when applied and that's where a lot of diets in particular fall short you know I'm calling out meal plans here is yes you can follow it but if you don't know the workings of it it's not something you can do when you're outside of the parameters of the control of that meal plan. You know, I hear a lot of people say, listen, I want to start dieting in two months or I want to start in three months when this changes. I move out, when I'm done vacationing, you know, like, but right away, you're putting yourself in that position to fail because sure you could do well while you're in that little time frame, but what happens when get back to that situation that you know it's tough like where you're um you know on a vacation

4:02.0

you're going out with dinner with friends and you know that's why first and foremost we push everyone

4:06.0

no matter what diet style you do yes diet styles can work well some people will really excel with

4:11.2

intermittent fasting some people will do well with keto um but first and foremost

4:14.9

focusing on fundamentals of logging your food if you aren't logging your food please make sure you are
