In this episode of the Swallier Pride podcast we have Maddie Marie Teagles. She has been in the trenches as a medical

SLP around the world for over 25 years and has now been an assistant professor for four years.

Her favorite course that she totally geeks out on

is anatomy and physiology.

Her specialties are in the area of dysphagia and voice,

but since she has stepped into her assistant professor

and clinical supervisor position.

She is working hard to help students bridge the gap between class and clinic.

She has written and published one book, two chapters in colleagues books,

and is soon to publish her second book. She also sits on the executive

committee for Minnesota Speech Language Hearing Association, her state SLP organization,

as the Future Profession's Committee advisor.

Her website Fresh SLP and her podcast, The Missing Link for SLPs,

focus on just that as she strives her best

to provide courses for new and transitioning SLPs.

Her courses target how to provide skilled intervention from the very beginning of our

careers that we provide as SLPs, think training wheels here, and also the professional skill needed to not only survive our careers, but thrive in our careers.

If you ask her patients and students, one thing they will all remember is how much she loves her work.

She may not look like it, but she is a huge introvert.

And when she's not actively working as an SLP, she is almost always reading and writing.

She has written over a, with writing over a million words per year, listening to

amazing Chicago blues bands or spending time with family.
