See what you want about the blasphemy laws of old, but they were relatively fixed, whereas

with the hate speech laws of the modern age, they changed over time, for example if you

held a mainstream view on any given matter 20 years ago, then 10 years ago that view

has now moved from the mainstream perhaps being on the fringes. Over 20 appear your view

hasn't changed. The law hasn't changed. Nothing has changed and your view has gone from

mainstream to fringe to illegal.

guest this week, Paul Coleman. Paul, welcome to the show.

Paul, there is so much for us to talk about in relation to an issue close to your heart

as well as my heart, which is freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of thought,

freedom of speech. You are an executive director at ADF International, which is the Alliance

Defending Freedom, which is a legal advocacy group that really stands up for people's

right to express themselves, especially to express their religious beliefs, to practice

their religious faith. And you cover a lot of interesting disturbing cases in relation

to the restrictions that are being placed on people's freedom to express themselves and

freedom to believe what they want to believe. So I want to dig down into all of that stuff

with you today. And I want to start off by asking you about a case that you've been closely

involved in over the past few years. Some listeners will be familiar with it. Others

might not be. To me, it's one of the most shocking examples of the new censorship that you

could imagine. So this is the case of the Finnish politician, Paivi Resonen, who's also
