Summary

What if Christmas wasn't just about a baby in a manger, but about your body too?

In this replay episode, Francie explores the beauty of the incarnation: that Jesus came in a body to restore our experience of being embodied. From the garden to the cross to today, God's story has always been about intimacy, redemption, and connection…in real bodies.

You'll hear about:

Why your body matters to God

The 42nd generation in Matthew 1 (and why it points to you)

Jesus as the second Adam, and what He birthed from His wounded side

How your body can be a place of healing, worship, and encounter

This is a powerful, worshipful meditation on Emmanuel, God with us in the flesh, redeeming even the most human parts of our lives.

Listen in and let your heart (and body) remember: you are not separate from His story. You are part of it.

Hello everybody, this is Francie.

I just wanted to hop on here and really honor the fact that we get to think well and deeply

0:15.2

and ponder the beauty of light coming into darkness, not in a super spiritual, far off, distant, cosmic place,

0:27.5

but in a body, on the earth with flesh and blood and bones in the man named Jesus,

0:36.0

that God would come close to us in human form so that we could

0:41.3

be reconnected to him, so that we could know him, so that we could understand what it is to be

0:46.6

truly human. And we could live, rejuvenated, alive existences as humans in bodies on the earth.

It blows my mind and I really love thinking about Christmas through this lens of theology of the body

1:00.0

because Christmas is clearly not about Santa or snowmen or presents.

1:05.0

It's about rethinking everything on the earth through the lens of a God who put on a body, who put on flesh,

1:14.3

who wrapped flesh around his eternal godness so that he could image us, image to us,

1:24.2

what God is like, so that we could see what God is like with our eyes and feel what God

1:29.4

is like with our hands. And just like Thomas putting his hands in the side of Jesus, the God

1:35.5

would come that close that we could touch even his wounds so that we could know his deep love for us.

1:41.4

He's such a good God. So today is a celebration. It's a thoughtful look into the

1:46.3

scriptures at this time of year where we so often think about baby Jesus and how sweet it is. And I love

1:53.1

thinking about baby Jesus because it's so profound the innocence and the humility that our king

1:59.5

brought on. And I want to dive into that a little bit, but also look at a larger message that I hope

2:05.3

will feed your adoration of him this season, that I hope will even maybe start off your

2:10.4

new year with fresh vision for what it looks like to really walk in communion with him in every

2:16.5

facet of what it is to be a human. So let's pray. God,

2:19.2

thank you for Christmas. Thank you for the joy that it brings for the hope that it reminds us of
