I've been thinking a lot about passion.

I mean what does it really mean to follow your passion?

This is one of those things that we hear all the time.

I think it's become sort of the norm, you know, if somebody is a personal development person all of a sudden the only thing they're talking about is following your passion.

And I've always hated it.

And it's interesting because

I don't even know how this message became the main thing, right?

Like everyone I talk to, no one knows what they're passionate about.

Like very few people know what they're passionate about.

And then when people do find what they're passionate about,

all of a sudden the thing they're most passionate about in the world,

the thing they want to spend all of their time on is helping other people find their passions.

Like, come on, that is a cop out.

That is not a real thing.

You're telling me you big message is follow your passion and you just happen happen

to be like the thousands of other people whose biggest passion is to help people

follow their passion. Like, come on, that seems a little too convenient, don't you think?

Now, maybe I'm being a little bit of a skeptic, but I also think that following your passion or doing things

only because you're passionate about it is dangerous. I mean I spent a lot of time

looking for what I'm passionate about, searching for this magical thing

that as soon as I found it everything would fall into place. As soon as I found it, I would be happy every day and I'd wake up excited and there would never

be any problems. I spent so much time searching for this thing.
