ADHD experts webinar today. We are very pleased to have Dr. Timothy Williams join us today to talk

about ADHD and substance use disorders, how to recognize and how to manage addiction

in adults and adolescents. Many experts believe that ADHD is a risk

factor for substance use disorders and an estimated 15 to 25% of adults with a

lifetime history of substance abuse disorders also have ADHD so how is ADHD

really linked to substance use disorders. Dr. Williams will be talking about a

variety of factors that play a role in the connection, everything from genetics to the

dopamine receptors in the ADHD brain, understanding the high correlation between a ADHD and

substance abuse as well as the catastrophic effects that substance abuse has on both the individual and the family is is key to helping

clinicians prevent addiction in individuals with attention deficits. So thank you so much.

as well as chief of child psychiatry

at Massachusetts General Hospital,

and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

In addition, he's the Director of Substance Abuse Services in the Clinical and Research Program

in Pediatric Psychopharmacology at Mass General.
