Many of you have probably seen the video of Michigan State Senator Melary McMorrow

in which he forcefully pushes back against the slanderous accusations of wonderful colleagues

who blindsided her with accusations that she was a groomer and somebody who sexualizes

children.

McMorrow identified herself twice as a straight, white, married, suburban mom, emphasizing

how important it is for us to use the privileges inherent in belonging to groups that are

able by virtue of that inherent privilege to stand up for the marginalized.

There are two things I took away from McMorrow's stunning remarks.

Three things actually.

First is, why was it so stunning because it doesn't happen enough?

Second, this just can happen at the state and local level.

Third, we need better allies, men for women, white people for people of color.

So let's make sure, let's raise our voices until everybody at higher levels of government

in governor's offices, in the House, in the Senate, at every opportunity to push back

with the same kind of passion and righteous indignation that state Senator McMorrow was

able to muster.

For God's sakes, we need everybody on our side to fight.
