Welcome to the Game Change Your Life. I'm Dave Anderson. I want to talk to you in this episode about how to beat the ambush of failure. The ambush of failure, you may think, what is the

0:21.6

ambush of failure? Well, it may be something you haven't thought much about, but I will tell you

0:25.2

failure, mediocrity, obscurity, there are immense rewards that come with that. It's the dirty

0:32.3

little secret of failure is that failure has a number of rewards that people fall into. And listen, people are not

0:40.3

going to continue to live in a way, to behave in a way, to perform in a way that causes them pain

0:45.6

and loss without some type of payoff. They're getting something out of failure. They're getting

0:50.8

something out of mediocrity. They're getting something out of obscurity,

0:54.3

or they wouldn't keep living that way. So it's a trap. It's an ambush. And there are a number of subtle little rewards for failure, for mediocrity, for obscurity. And if you're not aware of them, you may already be falling into some of them. So we're going to talk about what some of them are. So you can guide yourself out of that trap if you've fallen into it or help others.

1:14.0

And we're also going to talk about what some of them are. So you can guide yourself out of that

1:11.7

trap if you've fallen into it or help others. And we're also going to talk about three or four

1:15.5

steps you can take to pull yourself away from that to offset the ambush of failure. I think you're

1:21.9

going to find this insightful and helpful because we can all start to fall for some of those rewards

1:26.7

from time to time, which might explain why we're not doing all we can, start to fall for some of those rewards from time to time,

1:27.6

which might explain why we're not doing all we can,

1:31.1

why we're not living the game, change your life.

1:34.9

But before we get into that, it's time for our quick hit Q&A.

1:42.3

As some of you know by now, you've heard me mention this on past episodes that you can post a question you'd like me to address. I get to as many as I have time for. It's probably going to amount to one per episode. At our Learn to Lead 100 on Twitter, the number 100, or at Facebook.com slash the game changer life. And I'll do my best answer them. Here's a pretty good one that came in.

2:01.7

If you have two equally talented candidates for a position, would you use experience as the

2:07.4

tiebreaker? Personally, I would not. I would use mindset as the tiebreaker. All right, I would even,

2:13.4

I would take someone with less talent with a better mindset than someone that had more talent

2:17.7

and a more diminished negative, you know, lethargic mindset.

2:22.2

To me, mindset is huge.
