Summary

With the New Year comes pressure to become the “best version” of yourself but true transformation starts with intention, patience, and compassion. 💫

In this week’s episode of Life Happens with Barb & Michelle, we’re digging into a modern epidemic fueled by entitlement, comparison, and our fast-paced culture: impatience. We explore why slowing down is not a weakness, but the pathway to confidence, alignment, and ease as we enter 2026.

💬 Barb shares why she chose patience as her intention word for 2026 and offers simple, grounded ways to cultivate patience in everyday life.

💬 Michelle opens up about her struggle with waiting for things to align and how trusting her timing—and herself—completely shifted her experience.

What We Talk About

The entitlement epidemic: How instant gratification and individualism have shaped our expectations and how awareness helps us reconnect with compassion.

How impatience hurts us: Acting out of alignment, rushing decisions, and feeling hopeless when life isn’t moving fast enough.

Patience attains all things: Trusting your timing, embracing the “in-between,” and finding purpose in waiting seasons.

Building a relationship with yourself: Pausing, breathing, reconnecting, and beginning again, over and over.

Remember: the day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.

Have patience. Your small shifts matter—and they are creating a better tomorrow.

0:29.7

I'm laughing when you said Happy New Year because I've seen so many memes and so many things

0:34.9

on social media saying, oh my gosh, please don't bring 2026 the way

0:39.4

2025 was. I want something totally different. So it's just interesting that we always start

0:44.3

the new year saying, happy new year. I was going to say, don't you always feel like that happens,

0:50.6

like with memes, with internet culture of like we don't want what has passed we want

0:55.8

something new but yeah it's kind of how it goes yeah and I think what I really liked about seeing

1:00.7

some of the memes recently is it feels like we want a simpler life yeah we want things to be a little

1:07.5

bit less chaotic a little bit less speeded up, a little bit less, you know, filled

1:14.3

with so much that causes us to feel out of control.

1:17.5

Yeah.

1:18.5

Because we talk about control a lot.

1:19.9

That is our greatest thing, really, as humans.

1:22.6

We want control in places where we don't have it.

1:24.6

So yeah, I think in 2026, you know, being a lot more thoughtful,

1:30.0

maybe, and more mindful. And I hate to use the word slowing down because people think, oh, I can't

1:35.0

slow down. These don't tell me to do that. But I really mean being more intentional. Yeah.

1:39.8

Which is what we're going to talk about today. The name of the game. It is. I mean, regardless of how
