Summary

It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma speak with Dave Weigel, author of the "Americana" newsletter at Semafor to discuss the state of play of the election ahead of tonight's presidential debate. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on tonight’s debate, Israel’s enormous bombing of a designated safe zone in Gaza, presidential polling, today’s primaries, Boeing labor action, the GOP’s threat of a government shutdown, and the NYPD Commissioner stepping down as the most recent collateral in the FBI’s Eric Adams investigation, before parsing through some insane coverage of Israel’s use of 2,000-pound bombs on tents in a designated safe zone in Gaza. Dave Weigel then joins to tackle his story in Semafor outlining reports of an incredibly secretive, and generally anonymous network of conservative influencers raking in five figures off of one meeting for promulgating sexual smears of Kamala Harris. After briefly expanding on the parallels between this story and the recently released DOJ indictment on Russian money influencing right-wing media, and unpacking the greater questions this raises about the funding mechanism of right-wing circles, Dave, Sam, and Emma dive deep into the US presidential election, the major missteps made so far by the fatigued Trump and nascent Harris campaigns, and debate preview, before wrapping up by briefly touching on the role of on Robert Kennedy in all of this.

John from San Antonio dives deep into his election previews, with a particular focus on the Senate races out of Montana and Nebraska, and the MR Crew watches Charlie Kirk and Joe Rogan get back to their roots (getting schooled by college kids and falling for any conspiracy the moment he hears it, respectively).
