Summary

It's Hump Day! Sam, Emma, and the MR Crew break down last night's debate between Kamala Harris & Donald Trump. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on last night’s debate, a certain mega-star endorsement, the US economy, ballot access, yesterday’s primaries, the anniversary of 9/11, New York Times labor action, Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Gaza, Pakistan’s crackdown on Imran Khan’s allies, and the NYPD Commissioner’s recent backtracked retirement, before briefly touching on some of their more technical reflections on the first Harris-Trump debate. From here, they parse through various highlights from the debate, including Harris’ deft touch in rhetorically outlining her own political identity and separating herself from Biden, as well as the importance of her direct approach to abortion. They also touch on Harris’ impeccable ability to trigger Trump when it came to his “winning” issues, including launching him into an insane rant about his rallies and blatantly false anti-migrant conspiracies, before tackling the genuinely troubling takeoff of this dangerous wave of anti-immigrant fascist fear-mongering. Wrapping up, Sam and Emma discuss Harris’ statements on growing social division and juxtapose the two candidates' ability to sh*t talk each other.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma unpack the layers of absurdities around Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, not the least of which is Elon Musk’s creepy natalism forcing Emma into a defense of TS. They also watch various post-debate recaps – from talking heads and focus groups alike – that say the same thing: Trump STUNK! They also get some laughs out of conservative comedy, plus, your IMs!
