Feelings are complex and easy to get lost in, but for the most part, we can tell how an event or a person makes us feel. However, when self doubt and invalidation creep up on us when we try to remember how something happened, it's a recipe for gaslighting. Not only can somebody else gaslight you, but you can gaslight yourself! It is emotionally abusive and manipulative behavior that can easily be displayed towards ourselves when we don't trust our guts.
