0:05.7	I'm your host, Heather Ashley, and today's case is out of the Kansas City, Missouri area.
0:10.6	Small talk sucks, so let's dive in.
0:13.5	In the summer of 2022, Bishop Tony Caldwell, a respected leader in the Kansas City community,
0:32.6	started getting information about seven different women who had either gone missing or were found
0:37.7	murdered along prospect Avenue in Kansas City.
0:41.0	He's closely connected with the community, and people do tend to feel more comfortable
0:45.4	sharing information with him than they would the police.
0:48.0	And honestly, he just seems like a really approachable guy.
0:51.2	Bishop Caldwell was pretty shaken up about all the information he was getting.
0:55.7	So he and other community leaders went to the police about the women,
0:59.6	but according to Bishop Caldwell, the police didn't take any action.
1:04.0	For whatever reason, it didn't seem like they were as concerned as he was,
1:08.0	and he was extremely concerned.
1:10.9	Feeling desperate to make sure the world knew what was going on,
1:14.1	he reached out to the Kansas City Defender, which is a non-profit news organization,
1:19.0	and he was hoping that they could do something with this information.
1:22.5	This was an issue of safety at this point, and thankfully,
1:25.6	the Kansas City Defender was 100% on board.
1:29.4	In mid-September, the Defender turned to TikTok and shared a video where Bishop Caldwell told the world,
1:35.7	I'm really upset right now, and the reason I'm upset is we've got four young ladies
1:40.6	that have been murdered within the last week here, off of 85th in prospect.
