0:22.9	Covenant had been taken by the Philistines, and these next two chapters, and I think we'll probably
0:27.8	do both today, look at what happened and what the consequences of that action were for the Philistines.
0:34.8	Starting in 1st Samuel 5, verse 1. After the Philistines had captured the ark of God,
0:40.5	they took it from Ebenezer to Ashtad. Then they carry the ark into Dagon's temple and set up
0:45.3	beside Dagon. When the people of Ashdod rose up early the next day, there was Dagon fallen on
0:50.8	his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord. They took Dagon and put him back in his place, but the following morning when they rose,
0:57.7	there was Dagon fallen on his face on the ground before the Ark of the Lord.
1:01.6	His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold, only his body remained.
1:06.7	That is why, to this day, neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagon's temple at Ashdod step on the threshold.
1:14.7	The Lord's hand was heavy on the people of Ashtad in its vicinity.
1:18.5	He brought devastation on them and afflicted them with tumors.
1:22.1	When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said,
1:24.7	The Ark of the God of Israel must not stay with us, because his
1:28.9	hand is heavy on us and on Dagon our God. So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines
1:34.6	and asked them, what shall we do with the Ark of the God of Israel? They answered, have the Ark
1:40.2	of the God of Israel moved to Gath? So they moved the Ark of the God of Israel. But after they had
1:45.7	moved it, the Lord's hand was against that city, throwing it into a great panic. He afflicted the people of
