Because it risks undermining the very trust that people have in their clinicians.

And this whole scheme was designed for the elderly and the vulnerable.

But first, Peer spent another day going over the detail

of how the assisted dying bill could or should work in practice

if it becomes law.

The bill would allow adults in England and Wales to request help to die

if they're considered to have less than six months to live.

A non-party peer, Lord Bert, spoke about the sheer misery suffered by some people

towards the end of their lives.

And he wanted to make sure that their wish for help to die

could be carried out without disproportionate delay and complication.

He wasn't sure that was possible under a stressed NHS, so he suggested instead.
