What would you say if your child or grandchild approach you with a question like,

what are some ways to relieve pain or stress, or if someone is feeling depressed, anxious,

angry and confused, what Bible passages will help boost the around strength and their belief

four of our series. Kids have questions today. Mental health and the problem of evil and suffering.

Pastor Jonathan Conner joins us. He's pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa.

Jonathan, welcome back. Hey, thanks. I'm happy to be here.

So the first question in under the heading of mental health is maybe kind of a personal question.

When you have a bad day, what do you do? Yeah, you know, I love this question and for a lot of

reasons, one, I love it because this child felt comfortable asking their pastor what to do

when you have a bad day. And I think it's a simple question. I think it's a profound question.

And what I love about it with children is they're not afraid to ask that.

I think a lot of adults, we're a little bit afraid to ask them. I don't know if afraid to

just say to our pastor, hey, what do I do when I have a bad day? I think maybe we're afraid sometimes

to admit we have a bad day, but children aren't. And I think they're honest about the reality that we

all have bad days for lots of different reasons. So I love this question. So I'll start first with

my response to the child and then we'll dig a little deeper. So I say to the child, great question.
