| 0:17.5 | Hello and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories Podcast. |
| 0:21.5 | My name is John DeLin, I'm your host. |
| 0:24.0 | And today I'm very excited to discuss a topic that has become near and dear to my heart. |
| 0:30.0 | The topic today is a psychological condition called scrupulosity, which defined technically |
| 0:38.0 | as religious or moral based obsessive compulsive disorder. |
| 0:43.0 | Some of you may know that about a year and a half ago I started a clinical psychology PhD at Utah State University. |
| 0:51.0 | And because I was interested in studying the nexus of religion and mental health and because my supervisor, Michael Tuig, |
| 1:00.0 | was one of the world's experts in the treatment of OCD. |
| 1:05.0 | I decided to do my master's thesis work on scrupulosity. |

| 1:50.0 | And funny enough, the Associated Press wrote a little excerpt of that article, put it on the AP Wire. |
| 1:58.0 | And last Monday, Jay Leno himself on the tonight show made a joke about our scrupulosity study. |
| 2:06.0 | It's been a fun little ride and scrupulosity has gotten a lot of almost national attention because of these articles. |
| 2:14.0 | And so I thought it'd be really cool to bring Eric on who was raised LDS, as I understand it, and to hear his story about what it's like to deal with scrupulosity within the LDS paradigm. |
| 2:27.0 | And the only other thing I'll say is that I'm looking to start a separate podcast series called Scrupulosity Stories, where I interview different people with scrupulosity or people who treat it, just to kind of help build education. |
