Yeah. Welcome, everybody to another episode of Refresh Your Wealth with yours truly Mark Kohler, my amazing co-host, Matt Sorensen, coming to you during the holidays. We don't take the whole month off. We'll take one one week off with the podcast. But we're here for you. This is this is a, you know, a dedicated lifestyle that we've just, we've just signed up. We're here. Every week we're here, you know. We committed. And that's the, that's, we just, we got to live up to it. So, um, well, this is a cool topic today. And, um, I'm, maybe this is a gift of a topic. I don't know. I have no good jokes to start off today, guys. I don't, you're just going to have to go without them today. I'm just going to tell you what the topic is. Okay. Well, yeah, no cliches or anything. No, okay. I just have a blank slate today. No good jokes. Maybe someone will come to mind. But this is a little throwback for me because I'm just going to say this.

When I was in law school, this is back in 2002 and 2003, I worked for a franchise company.

They had probably about 500 franchisees in the U.S.

And this franchisor, I learned a lot about the franchise business.

And that's what we're going to talk about.

Say we're at the topic of today's show, buying a franchise or franchising your business. So we want to talk about it from both ends. I want to buy a business. I want that's a franchise. Or maybe I have my own business that I'm thinking I should sell franchises. I've got a cool business. People would want to buy this. So we're going to be talking about that today. We got Rick Grossman, who's the author of the franchise Bible, the eighth edition, who's going to be coming on. But I worked in this industry.

And, man, I learned a lot in those two years. I worked full-time. This is my second, third year of law school.

I worked in the legal department.

Had a great boss.

This is my first, like, real legal job. And I learned so much. And it was, and I saw the legal battle in the, the, between franchisor and franchisee, and I could appreciate the franchise these arguments and running the business and being at the location and the franchisor too trying to protect the brand and all these things that play out there.

So, but I think we'll have an interesting discussion here about buying a franchise or franchising your business.

I think it's a great topic because everybody has big dreams for their business and your business might be a good model to franchise. Maybe it's not. So we'll be covering that here at the bottom of the hour. And before we get there, we always do our legal and tax tip. Now, Matt, can I give a pre-tip? I mean, no tingle. Just kind of a pre-tip. It's kind of like the warm-up act, you know, like, before the real good stuff comes out. I think you need it today, because I have no good jokes, nothing interesting in the news that I, there's tons interesting in the news. I just don't, I'm just, I'm like deer in the headlights right now. I got nothing. Okay. All right. I got something. I got something. I'm coming to your rescue.
