With this week's show, we're going to finish up our discussion of the Battle of

Prairie Grove, which took place on December 7th, 1862, not very far from my

hometown of Fayetteville in Northwest Arkansas.

As we've mentioned before, when I made a trip home this past December, my dad and

I took some time to go out to Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park, and we

posted some photos from that visit on Facebook this past week. So y'all can check those out.

And there's even a special bonus photo of Tracy sporting some

racerbacks per Fenelia, which somehow got posted there along with the Prairie

Grove pictures. Okay. So anyway, back to our story.

As you guys saw a recall on the Union side, we have Francis Heron and the Missouri

divisions arriving at Prairie Grove and finding the third path to link up with James

1:38.5

Blunt and his Kansas division is blocked by the Confederates.

Blunt is still down at Cain Hill where he has been waiting to see if Heron or the

1:47.5

Confederates will get to him first. Right. And speaking of the Confederates,

the Rebel Commander Thomas Heindman had originally planned to attack Blunt at

1:59.5

Cain Hill and crush him there, but then Heindman received a major surprise when he

2:06.5

got news that Heron and the Missouri divisions were unexpectedly approaching

2:11.5

after they'd made an extraordinary forced march to come to Blunt's aid.
