Today we get to speak to retired agent Jacques Baptiste who served in the FBI for 22 years.

Jock was a member of the Washington Field Office, WFO, Joint Terrorism Task Force, JTTF,

as the lead agent covering national security special events in the Washington metropolitan area.

He also served on the WFO SWAT team.

In this episode, Jock reviews the FBI's international response to the U.S. Embassy bombings in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Later in his career, Jock was assigned to the Hazardous Device Response Unit as a bomb technician team medic and the FBI anti-terrorism unit.

He was also assigned to the Counterterrorism Division and served as the program manager of the Africa Fusion Cell, managing strategies

for dismantlement of terrorist groups in northern and western Africa.

In his final FBI career position, Jock was assigned to the Director's Office of

Partner Engagement, where he participated in a six-month fellowship with the

International Association of Chief of Police, helping to build

better bridges of information sharing and law enforcement policy design between the FBI and state, local, and international law enforcement agencies.

Jock and I recorded this interview several weeks ago.

Ironically, his interview and his last words provide an opportunity

for us to think about the dangers of being an FBI agent and being in law enforcement.

Yesterday on February 3rd 2021,

Special Agent Laura Swartzenberger

and Special Agent Daniel Alfin were shot and killed in the line of duty

while executing a federal court-ordered search warrant and a crimes against

children investigation in Sunrise Florida.
