Today for this very special five-year anniversary episode we get to speak to retired agent and legendary FBI criminal

profiler John Douglas. John served in the FBI for 25 years and in this episode he reviews his new book

The Killer's Shadow and talks about his prison conversation with Joseph Paul Franklin, a white supremacist, serial

killer responsible for killing more than 20 people and wounding 5 to include magazine publisher Larry Flint

and civil rights leader Vernon Jordan. John also discusses the

popularity of true crime and the Netflix series Mindhunter inspired by his best-selling book of the same name

John is a true authority on serial killers and violent predators.

In addition to being the founding father of criminal profiling

and modern criminal investigative analysis he has aided law

enforcement agencies around the country and overseas and was the

inspiration for characters in The Silence of the Lambs, Criminal Minds, and now Mind Hunter.

I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with John for my fifth anniversary

episode.

I launched my website Jerry Williams.com and posted my first FBI retired case file review interview on January 22nd, 2016.

It has been a blast and a blessed journey.

I have met so many wonderful retired agents

and so many wonderful listeners and readers.

John Douglas was number two on my list of Dream Podcast guest, not because I love talking about

serial killers because I don't. I admire John for his entrepreneurship, the way he has expanded his bureau career with his books and beyond.

By the way, my number one dream guest is still former FBI director Louis Freee, the only FBI

director who also served as a special agent. I'm still working on that one. Who knows? It could happen.
