I'm Erin Scala and here's our show today. So, Susan Kostrava of Wine Enthusius magazine. Welcome to the show.

Thank you. Nice to have you here. So you grew up in Michigan.

Correct. Northern Michigan. That was a

wine Mecca at the time? No at the time it was a Cherry Mecca. It's a

farming. It's a resort area and it's also known for Cherry production.

So when I was growing up, there wasn't really a lot of wine being made.

It was mostly just cherries. But in the time since I've been traveling and been away

they've created a pretty decent wine industry which you know the wines are getting

better it's not very big production,

but they're making some resling and some dessert wines up there

that are actually pretty good.

Now when I go home to see family, I actually

get to tour wineries as well, which is kind of fun.

And at some point you started working in the media business, working for a newspaper.

Right, so I started early.

I started at 16 on a local paper and kind of you know always knew that I wanted to be writing in some way and this was one way of kind of looking to a career and in a way of making money doing it.

So I started as an intern for our local paper at 16.
