How do you safely raise... you don't even have a young woman as a daughter yet.

I do, I have two young women right now.

How do you safely raise them in the young women's program where they're subjected to these manuals

and to maybe sometimes poorly trained leaders.

How do you inoculate them or protect them?

How do you risk that? I've had people just say, I'm not going to risk this.

They look up on the wall and it's a white male first presidency.

They look at God and it's a white male God.

The boys get all these encouragement and nurturing and the women are macroming.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That's right, think about who you're talking to.

I know, I'm kidding.

I did that on purpose actually.

I'm not going to subject them, it's torture.

It's like choosing abuse for your child.

I'm not going to stand for it.

What would you say on how to do that successfully?

I would say first of all that parents have a lot more power than they sometimes realize.

Having worked in young women's as long as I have and having been in so many presidency meetings

where leaders were lamenting because of how unsupportive the parents there were.
