0:03.0	Those of you who have listened to the early episodes of The Cinefiles know that when
0:06.3	John and I started the show, we tried to keep our recordings to under one hour.
0:11.5	Then they expanded to an hour 10, hour 20, but when we actually started to go beat by
0:16.2	beat through the whole film, our podcasts were suddenly as long or even longer than the
0:20.7	movie itself.
0:22.2	Our first two-part episode, of course, was Citizen Kane, and on Lawrence of Arabia, we
0:26.7	actually had to split it into three.
0:29.5	And I've always worried that we would eventually get to a point where the shows were just
0:33.2	too darn long and our audience would lose patience with The Cinefiles.
0:37.2	After all, one of the basic rules of filmmaking is that shorter is almost always better.
0:41.6	At least that's what I tell my students.
0:44.1	Still, the fact is, of all the comments we get, not once as anybody ever said the show
0:48.7	was too long.
0:49.9	So when it came time to tackle the monolith that is Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather
0:53.9	films, John and I decided to pull out all the stops and let our conversations go on as
0:59.0	long as they needed to.
1:00.0	And while I'm very proud of our third episode on Godfather Part Two, which is coming out
1:05.0	this Friday, I have to warn you that we still haven't made it to the end.
1:09.3	Now, I think we're going to finish it up next week, but since John and I haven't recorded
1:13.5	it yet, I can't promise anything.
