It's always interesting to talk to someone who's planted new roots in a new country and is passionate about the results,

especially when that someone is Ferrence Mate.

He's an accomplished photographer and sailing enthusiast,

and he's authored several books about sailboats.

His latest book, however, describes his move to Tuscany, where he turned a 13th century friary into his dream house,

planted acres of vineyards out back, and now produces some of the best

wine in Italy under the Mate label with the help of his son and wife.

A Hungarian-Canadian American who escaped communist rule, he's lived in Austria,

Vancouver, New York, Rome, and Paris. And now for the past 20 years, Ferrence has been living in rural

Tuscany. He joins us now on travel with Rick
