Sophie Duckies is a content creator behind the Lifestyle YouTube channel Malama Life.

Her videos focus on minimalism and slow living and her mission is to inspire others to live a more meaningful life by simplifying and slowing down.

She was based in Maui, Hawaii, but recently moved to Portugal with her husband and two dogs and is currently enjoying and adapting to the Portuguese way of life.

I'm good. Thank you so much for having me. I'm so excited to be here.

So why don't you start off by telling us your journey with minimalism, slow living, and also how you started sharing your lifestyle on YouTube?

It's been a long journey. So if I can summarize it, I was working like a nine to five job when I first moved to Maui and it was my first time having kind of a grown up adult job. They would call it where I was getting a steady paycheck and I really didn't know how to manage my finances.

And I was spending it on things like buying clothes and buying like cute decor items and I was just, you know, didn't really have a focus on where I could put my money.

So I was spending it on all these things. And I just had realized at one point that, you know, there's really I wasn't doing anything bigger with my life.
