So here we are. Today we're talking about building self-compassion through anxiety.

We're going to be looking at one of anxiety's silver linings. I say that because I believe that although

anxiety feels like a big dark cloud that has followed us around for large portions of our life. It really

does have some silver linings and it has more than one.

So but the one we're going to talk about today is self-compassion.

Through the healing of our anxiety and clearing of our anxiety panic we learn many many things and some of these

things we may not have even known about otherwise and one of those things

one of those silver linings, as I like to call it, is self-compassion.

And I mentioned Kristen Neff earlier about the audible book.

And one of the things that Kristen talks about well it's actually

three things she Kristen Neff talks about three things that we need to keep in mind when we are dealing with our own

self-compassion and the building of it. The first one, well all three of them. The

first one is self-kindness. The second one is our common

humanity, and the third one is mindfulness. So let's look at these one at a time. Self kindness. Well, you've heard us talk about loving kindness and doing the loving kindness practice. It's part of the mindfulness training. And so we need to

take that loving kindness and direct it to the self. So it's treating yourself as you would a small child and a small child that was in need because often when we are suffering with our anxiety we are in need and we do have things that are not being filled. Some of our

needs are not being fulfilled and so we need to take care of that and we want to treat
